OUR STORY

In 2006, Sam was born. In great Sam fashion, he decided to enter 8 weeks earlier than planned and at only 2 1/2 pounds! On day 5 doctors informed us this little guy was born with a little extra! He was born with Down Syndrome and now we were thrust into a new world of navigating and advocating parenting and life with a child who has a developmental disability.

We wanted to make sure we did everything we could to make this little boy be all he could be- this involved learning about developmental disabilities and how to support him through therapies early and life long. It was not always easy and we knew one day we wanted to create a program to help families who have children with developmental disabilities to bring them hope, support and celebrate the progress.

We created and launched our non-profit Texas Institute of Developmental Pediatrics in 2016 and have grown the program from 4 families in the Little Stars program to 28 families with children ages 1 to 17 yrs old.
